Membership

Membership of Arius is open both to organisations and to individuals who share the aims of the Association.

Organisational members are admitted by agreement of the existing organisational members, who set the annual membership fee. As Arius is a non-commercial body, these fees go entirely to maintain the facilities and cover the activities of the association. Organisations interested in joining Arius should contact the Executive Director (see contacts link on the left).

Individual members are admitted by completion of an application form, followed by review and approval. The individual membership fee currently is CHF 100. Application forms can be obtained by contacting us.

All members are subject to the Rules of the Association (PDF logo 107 kb).

Organisational Members List

The inaugural organisational members of Arius when it was founded in the year 2000 were:

Belgium ONDRAF-NIRAS Waste Agency
Bulgaria Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant
Hungary PURAM Waste Agency
Italy ENEA National Agency
Japan Obayashi Corporation
Switzerland Colenco Power Engineering

On the other hand, the following new Memers have joined:

Netherlands COVRA Waste Agency
Slovenia ARAO Waste Agency
Latvia Radiation Safety Centre Government Authority

Since then, ONDRAF-NIRAS has withdrawn for budgetary reasons, although Belgium continues to be interested in a dual track approach to waste disposal planning, Kozloduy has also withdrawn with the intention of having its place taken by the recently formed Bulgarian Waste Agency, ANDRAD.

Discussion with a number of further potential Member Organisations are underway.
